The best a man can get

Malcolm, that intrepid road warrior and aesthete, produces most of these cyberspatial gems by courtesy of a well-bashed but trusty iBook.

Two years in, ol' Bookie is starting to show her age. The rest of the household at Redfellow Hovel are up-graded to black MacBooks. But Malcolm carries on regardless of the Intel Mac revolution.

The main draw-back of the bog-standard iBook was and is its limited RAM. Malcolm tried to get a factory up-grade, but a UK credit card simply doesn't cut the mustard with 1 Infinity Loop, Cupertino, CA 95014. And the $/£ differential always was damn silly, except in moments of total desperation.

On Monday, Malcolm succombed. He boosted off an order to OWC Larry (One World Computing, you ignoramuses) in Woodstock, IL: a 1024 So-Dimm, please. The order was processed on 1st August. Today, the morning of 3rd August, FedEx deliver a wee package. Over 4,000 miles: three days. That is class service.

At 12.55 pm, Dong! Cursor up to About this Mac.

O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay! He chortled in his joy. "Memory 1.5 GB DDR SDRAM".

Now, MS Word, freeze if you can.

Remember: you first read it here, strictly on the QT. Sphere: Related Content
